Rescue cushions, lifting bags and impact protection
I need to catch someone falling, lift something crushing someone, or stop a collision.
Air does two things well: it absorbs energy over distance, and it applies enormous force through a thin profile. This category is built on both.
A lifting bag slides into a gap a hydraulic jack cannot enter and lifts tonnes. A rescue cushion converts a fall into a survivable deceleration. Market lifting capacity runs roughly 1.5 to 86 tonnes per bag, and capacity falls as lift height increases — so the rated figure is not the working figure at full extension.

Life-safety rescue equipment is certified equipment. Rescue cushions are governed by standards such as EN 1869 and lifting bags by EN 13731, and without a valid test report the product must not be used for its purpose. We will not supply certified rescue equipment on the strength of a specification sheet, and we would advise walking away from any supplier who offers to.

Häufige Fragen
- How high can you jump into a rescue cushion?
- Rated jump height is a certified figure, not an estimate. In Europe the relevant standard is EN 1869. We do not supply rescue cushions without that certification in place — this is a product where a wrong number kills someone.
- How fast does a rescue cushion inflate?
- Seconds, from a dedicated high-output blower. Deployment speed is meaningless without the certified jump height that goes with it.
- Can an inflatable stretcher float?
- Buoyant versions exist specifically for water rescue and carry the casualty clear of the surface. Buoyancy capacity must be verified rather than assumed from the construction.
- Does an inflatable stretcher immobilise the spine?
- No. Spinal immobilisation requires purpose-designed equipment. A stretcher carries; it does not immobilise, and treating one as the other causes harm.
- How much can an air lifting bag lift?
- Commercial ranges run from around 1.5 tonnes to 80 tonnes and above per bag. Capacity falls as lift height increases, so the rated figure applies at the initial contact height, not throughout the lift.
- What pressure do lifting bags use?
- High-pressure bags typically run at around 8 bar and low-pressure bags at under 1 bar, serving different jobs. High pressure gives force in a thin profile; low pressure gives height and conformity.
